What is Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is the world’s most popular image editing software. It’s an extremely versatile application used by photographers, web designers, graphic designers, video editors, concept artists and others related to the multimedia industry.

Adobe Photoshop is redefining digital imaging that is extending beyond traditional creative uses into the areas of medical imaging, forensic investigation and in scientific research.

The name of this software has become so prominent that it’s practically becoming a verb. Adobe Photoshop allows you to build different layers of different images on top of each other. And there are no limits to how many you have or what goes on your layer.

It could be a photograph, a design element, a shape and text, a filter that could change the color of your design or an effect to something that changes everything of just one layer or all the layers underneath.

So, that’s the beauty of Photoshop. It’s all about allowing you to get more creative.

Adobe Photoshop is one of the most widely used piece of software in the multimedia industry.

Now, while learning Photoshop there are a couple of important things that you need to remember. And number one is to go through all the basic elements of it and then learn each section specifically.

It’s a hard truth that you are never going to learn everything in Photoshop.

For example: you can make videos in Photoshop, you can do 3D rendering, and you can build an entire room that is completely fictional inside Photoshop. But these things might not even interest you. You might just want to do ‘Poster design’ for something, photo manipulation or digital painting.

So, think about what you want to use it for and then go down that path and learn it.

In my blogs at LTY, I will walk you through all of the different tools in the left-hand panel, the elements in the menu bar and how it all works.

You can know about each and every tool in details with a demonstration. Here, I have also explained important concepts of this program like selections and healing tools.

You can learn the basics by working on different projects but before you go into Photoshop just remember Photoshop is all about being creative.

And any kind of creativity starts with you, not with any software, camera or any specific elements that you are using in it. It starts with you as a person. So, think about how you want to be creative and what you want to create.

For example: If you want to want to create a digital art of a wounded soldier near a pond in a gloomy forest with a specific color tone. Well, think about that before you go into Adobe Photoshop.

But before you get going on any project think creatively what you want it to be and then go in there. So, before you can use Photoshop in the way you want, you need to learn how to do it.

You can also save your images inside Photoshop and then go back and edit them later. You can export them in jpeg files which will allow you to upload them to the internet.

One last thing to keep in mind is that unlike Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop works on â€˜raster images’.

And in raster images, if you resize your image or design, it will get â€˜pixilated’ which means raster graphics are made up of â€˜pixels’. So, as you scale up your design, you can see the pixels as you zoom in.

But if you scale down your image, the number of the pixels also goes down and it fits into the canvas, which means the number of pixels decreases.

Adobe Photoshop is an excellent place to spend your time developing your creative skills but do not get overwhelmed by too many tools and it’s possibilities.

If you keep on practicing and focus on the area of your interest then you will definitely master your craft.
